Barking Collars
A barking dog can be quite a nuisance, disturbing and startling pedestrians and children. Keeping neighbors awake at night is also a big no-no. The barking can be irritating, even for the dog's loving owner. Barking collars are a great cure for wayward animals in need of gentle, human correction. Before you start a barking collar treatment, make sure you understand why your dog is barking.

Several things can be at fault with a barking dog. If an area is fenced off, but with a clear view of annoyances, like loud cars and noisy kids, he will inevitably bark. If you have a neighbor who regularly walks by, and perpetually yells at or scares the dog, things will only get worse. In this case, talk to the neighbor and ask him to treat the dog properly. Try fencing off the area of the yard that irritates him so much. If he can't see it, he may calm down. Other causes of the overly vocal canine can be hunger, thirst, excessive heat or cold. Dogs need food, water, and during extreme weather, a cozy indoor spot. They can bark to no end for any of these reasons. If you've checked all of the above possibilities, barking collars may be your last resort.

There are barking collars that some may consider humane or inhumane, but for the sake of information we'll tell you about all of them.

Spray barking collars are very popular. It has a device in the front, directly beneath the dogs' chin. When he barks, an unpleasant smelling spray is emitted. Dogs don't like a spray in their noses, and the sound may also startle him. This treatment is not painful, and is considered by most to be humane.

Choke barking collars may be scary for your dog, but is supposed to be completely safe. When the dog barks, the collar automatically constricts, in a choking action. It has a sensor that detects the correct width at which to close. Bruising is unusual, but not impossible. The problem with these barking collars is that they have, in rare cases, malfunctioned and choked the dog to death.

Shock barking collars are not commonly used today, because it's considered cruel and inhumane. What's worse, is the dog will develop an association with what or who caused him to bark. For example, if a child causes the dog to bark, you may have a dangerous situation. The dog doesn't know barking is wrong. He'll think that looking at that person or object is wrong. As soon as the collar comes off, he will have associated the child with his pain, and may attack him.

Remember, no one likes a barking dog. If you've tried other methods to correct him, and they still don't work, then invest in a humane barking collar. Spray bark collars are best, as they don't do physical harm to your pet. It's only natural for dogs to bark, so don't punish him for it, just correct the behavior.

Bath Toy
Bath toy

My daughter absolutely will not place a single piggie toe into the tub unless she has her favorite bath toy. Her favorite bath toy happens to be this strange looking flamingo stuffed animal. Its bright purple and while it was meant to be a bath toy, I almost wish it would find another tub to invade. She loves this thing. I can't even remember how it came to live with our family, but after each and every bath she insists on hanging it on the showerhead. So, the next person who decides to bathe has a purple flamingo bath toy staring at them. I've grown accustomed to him.

Most children like to have more than one bath toy. My daughter however, seems to think it is only necessary to one bath toy. In many ways, I think that is wonderful because it means I don't have tons of toys to put away once her evening bath time is over. It also means she's not throwing them all over the bathroom. Her one simple bath toy, while not my personal favorite choice, is cute in a sense and does sometimes manage to fly around the bathroom at some high speeds. I'm not sure how it happens unless, of course, he's merely trying to escape from her constant dunkings. She likes to do that to him, though I'm not sure why. Of course, as long as she's dunking a bath toy and not the cats, I'm not about to intervene. It entertains her for twenty minutes, allowing me to get a few things done in the bathroom while she's splashing her heart out.

I see so many other bath toys on the market that I think about bringing home to join our family, but she always turns them down. She insists on this flamingo being her one and only bath toy. I'm not sure what exactly will happen if he decides to fall apart or someone breaks in to steal him from her. If he ever does go missing, it could trigger a natural disaster in my neighborhood. My husband has grown rather fond of this bath toy. I often hear him in the shower singing to the freaky flamingo. If I ask him about it, he just smiles and says that it has become a bath toy that can be enjoyed by all. I have to disagree. I am not fond of showering with flamingos.

Battery Powered Christmas Lights
Each year we always have the same problem. There are simply not enough sockets in which to plug in our Christmas tree lights. This means we have to be creative with extension cords and power surge strips, and that is not always something that I feel comfortable with doing. I always thought there had to be a better way to handle the problem, and in fact, there was. My friend introduced me to the battery powered Christmas lights, and I have gotten quite a few strands of them since that time.

You do have to worry about battery life when you are going to use battery powered Christmas lights, but you certainly don't have to worry about where to plug them in, and you don't have to worry about having cords running all over the place. This can cut down some on your fire hazard, as well as the trip and fall that might just happen. If you have children or pets, these are both things that should be on your mind. If you can make things a little safer by going with the Christmas lights that are battery powered, you have a few less worries around the holidays.

Another great benefit of using battery powered Christmas lights is that they don't have to be limited by where you plug them in. If you want to have lights going around the perimeter of your ceiling, you can do so without having to have a cord running down to a power source. That can make your decorating much sleeker, and a whole lot neater. This means you can hang them anywhere in the house, even along the stairs where no source of power might be found in your home. The batteries make them extremely portable and versatile.

Even better, you can use battery powered Christmas lights outside your home where sources of electric are even more scarce. You can hang them anywhere you like, but you do have to worry about getting the right type of lights. You should always check to be sure they are outdoor lights, or they are going to break or short out the first time it rains, shows, or drops below freezing. They could also be a fire hazard if on a tree or your home, but they are not meant to be out in the weather. These battery powered lights are great to have, but only if they are safe.

Best Toys
When one of my friends asked me to help him work on a guide to the best toys, I initially balked at the project. It seemed like to broad an effort. After all, how would you rate toys? Would you look for the best selling toys, the best educational toys, or the most unique and unusual toys? Are tech toys inherently better just because they seem to be selling better, or do the classics get a higher rating because they have withstood the test of time? Thinking about all of these questions, I thought the project was impossible. Nevertheless, he convinced me to persist for a while. In retrospect, I am glad he did.

You see, a best toy guide is important for many reasons. A lot of the times, parents don't know what to get their children for presents. The right educational toy at the right time can really inspire a kid and make a huge world of difference. A kite might not seem like much, but it can be a great way to bring a family together. An electronics projects kit might not be as high tech as the latest video game system, but it can help kids understand how things work and inspire passion for a high-technology career. The best toys both amuse and inspire

One of the things that we discovered while researching the magazine is that collectors are an excellent source of information on the best toys. I had always assumed that they collected things because of their esoteric value and rarity, but it turns out that they really know what they are talking about. Some tin toys, for example, go back decades but are still as entertaining as ever. Robotic windup cars can be more fun than radio controlled cars for some people, and if something goes wrong with them they are easier to fix.

Of course, there is no reason to give short shrift to electronic gadgets. Today's high-tech toys are some of the best toys that have ever been invented. Toy robots, video game systems, radio controlled vehicles, and virtual pets are just some of the many inventions that have made our lives more entertaining. Even better in my opinion are toys that help you to enhance your creativity through the use of high tech. People don't think of sound recording software as a toy, but it really is to many kids. Similarly, digital cameras and digital photo editing software are considered some of the best toys by many teenagers.

Bissell Green Machine
I have a house full of kids and pets, so you can imagine what my carpets must look like. Between my dogs tracking in dirt and mud from the yard and my kids spilling juice and ice cream, not a day goes by but I have to clean up some kind of major mess. If I got to the mess on time, I could usually prevent the stain from setting in, but sometimes one or two messes slipped by me for a while. When that happened, I would have to run out to rent one of those steam cleaners to treat the stain. This started happening so often that I decided it would be better to get my own Bissell Green Machine so I could have it on hand at all times.

I had briefly considered purchasing a different brand, but after reading steam cleaner reviews online, I saw that a majority of consumers seemed to prefer the Bissell Green Machine. From what I could tell, the Bissell Green Machine came with a lot of features for a very good price. Plus, the manufacturer has been producing carpet and floor cleaning products for decades, so I knew I could trust this name. By the time I was ready to buy, I was convinced that the Bissell Green Machine would be perfect for my cleaning needs.

The Bissell Green Machine was available in two sizes, and I chose the smaller one. It was far more compact than the larger one, which made it perfect for use on my stairs and even in my car. Since I frequently have to transport my kids and dogs from one place to another, my car is not immune to spills and stains. With a Bissell Green Machine, I wouldn't have to take my vehicle to a professional car care service center anymore, so that was another incentive to buy.

I ended up ordering my Bissell Green Machine from a discount website that offered free shipping with the purchase. Once it arrived a few days later, I couldn't wait to begin using it. I decided to test my new Bissell Green Machine on an old grape juice stain that I hadn't quite been able to completely remove with my regular chemical cleaners. After waiting a while for the Bissell Green Machine to heat up, I attacked the stain. I was shocked to see that the Bissell Green Machine thoroughly removed the stain quickly and easily! I mean, I expected the product to work on fresh stains, but I had no idea that it would be effective on ones that had set in long ago.

After using my Bissell Green Machine for a couple of weeks, my carpets look almost brand new! All the old stains are gone, and I don't ever have to worry about new ones again. The Bissell Green Machine has succeeded in giving me fantastic looking carpets as well as peace of mind. I wouldn't trade it in for anything else!
