Anti Bark Collars
When I heard that there was a devices known as anti bark collars I thought that it had to be a joke. I was really surprised that such things even exist. I always thought that a dog's bark was a good thing especially if the pup is supposed to help protect the home. However, I began reading about anti bark collars and I'm barking a whole new tune.

While a dog's bark is great for protecting the home as well as for communication, many pets may yelp excessively. We all have a friend or relative who owns a dog that really takes barking to a whole new level. Using anti bark collars on these pets may be a real benefit. The question is whether or not the devices are humane.

I decided to do a little homework about the anti bark collars and I was pretty happy with what I found. Granted, my research isn't complete but it does point to a positive direction for anti bark collars in general. I have to look into it a little more before I would actually recommend using one for a dear pet.

Excessive barking can ruin your friendship with your neighbors. No one wants to live next to a pet that makes noise all day and all night long. Anti bark collars are designed to help the pet curb his barking habit almost like helping a person who bites his nails curb his biting. The approach seems to be really humane and I'll share why I think so.

My initial reactions to the anti bark collars might stem from other products on the market that are designed to control a pet's behavior. Shock collars were the first thing that popped into my mind. However, I discovered that the anti bark collars work very differently and they produce excellent results.

I also like that there is research that is offered that suggests that the anti bark collars have no adverse effects on the pets. The devices use static to "correct" the dog when he barks. The static doesn't work quite the same as a shock. It simply redirects the dog's behavior when he is barking.

There are a couple of reasons that I'm giving the anti bark collars a little time before I buy one for my pet. First of all, I don't know if I really want my pet's barking under control. It just isn't excessive enough to cause worry. However, if my pet were disruptive I might give the anti bark collars a try as a last resort.

Animal Towels
Going to the beach is a favorite activity for many families during the summer months. There's a bunch of things you've got to remember to bring along with you. Essentials including sunscreen, juice and pails with shovels for digging in the sand can all be kept in the car for last minute trips. Beach towels are also important and if you've got children consider getting animal towels for them.

Unlike the name sounds, these aren't towels designed for monkeys or polar bears. They are big, bright and colorful towels emblazoned with the image of an animal. Everything from lions, to tigers to giraffes can be found on the front of a towel.

Naturally you can take the somewhat boring route of purchasing plain ones. These come in an assortment of whites, blues and yellows, among other colors. They work fine for taking to the beach and either lying in the sand or drying off after swimming, but they lack the fun and flair of animal towels. Towels with pictures of your child's favorite furry friend are bound to bring delightful giggles and smiles to their faces.

On a hot and humid day in July or August the beach is usually packed with folks all looking for a spot on the sand to call their own. Once you are lucky enough to find a corner to call your own, you don't want to risk losing it if you have to get up for a few moments. Having unusual or unique animal towels will make it easy for you to find your spot if you have to run off to get a drink or go fish your child out of the water so they can eat lunch.

You are likely to find them in most linen departments of major stores as well as specialty linen stores. The most popular type of animal towels seems to be those printed with jungle animals including tigers and lions. You can also find some that display pictures of cats and dogs which can be very fun for a child who has their own kitten or puppy.

Although these are ideal for children, adults can certainly use them too. Some people like having something unique to display in their washroom. A conversation piece for when company stops by. Animal towels certainly do that if you've got one hanging on the towel bar or on a hook behind the door.

Gift giving can be fun and functional if you give one or two of these. Almost everyone can use more linen items and big fluffy animal towels are always welcomed. Wrapping yourself in one after a warm bath or shower just feels so good.

Area Carpets
Area Carpets

You may love your hardwood floors, but not everyone can live with them all the time. Hardwoods have a special beauty, but they also come with special problems. If you have children or pets, you may find that they get scuffed easily, and pet hair can build up rather quickly. When the weather gets cold, hardwoods can be very cold on your feet, and can make playing on the floor a chilly experience for your children. If you want to cover them up a bit, but still want to see them, you can get area carpets.

The appeal of carpet is twofold. Carpet can help keep your feet warm, and it can add a certain beauty to a room. You could cover your hardwoods completely with carpeting, but this is never a good idea. Some carpet installers will staple or nail carpet directly into the hardwood, which leaves it damaged. If you cover a floor completely, chances are good that you will have to repair and completely restore the hardwoods once you take it up. Area carpets can be placed around your home without covering up or damaging your floors.

Area carpets are often used for looks as well as for function. Many people like to get area carpets that match the colors in their room to place underneath certain pieces of furniture. They may choose area carpets to go underneath their dining room set, or perhaps one that will go under their sofa and coffee table. You can also use area carpets in your bedroom. If you put one under your bed, you can wake up and place your feet on the warm carpet before venturing off across the chilly hardwoods.

You can find many different types of area carpets, and the prices vary from cheap to highly expensive. Some like a simple rug that doesn't cost much to put in playrooms and other play areas. Others like to spend a lot of fine area carpets like Oriental rugs. You can find these area carpets in discount stores and department stores. You may also find a great selection at home stores as well. Don't forget to look in furniture stores, and carpet and wallpapering outlets. You can find almost any color you want, and the patterns are unlimited. No matter what type of budget you have, you can find good area carpets to fill your home with a little added warmth.

Artificial Plants
You may hear that you should never use artificial plants as a part of your home décor, but I have been known to ignore that advice, and many others do as well. This might have been good advice ten years ago, but I don't think it holds as much water today as it did back then. The main reason for this is that the ones they make today look so good, you would never know they were not real unless you gave them a really good inspection. Most will never know, but will enjoy the look they give any room.

What I love about artificial plants is that I don't have to water them. I have a few real ones in my home, and if they were not able to handle sparse watering, they would never survive in my home. I love real plants, but I am entirely too forgetful to have too many of them. This is why I love the artificial plants that I have. I don't have to worry about watering them, my cats don't eat them, and they never need trimming or transplant. All I have to do is make sure I dust them now and again to keep them looking fresh and new.

I have also found that artificial plants can do things that real plants can not do when it comes to décor and room design. My friend has a ledge that runs around the ceiling in her bathroom. She has gotten an artificial vine that runs all the way around and looks amazing in there. This is not something you can easily do with a real plant, and if you could, it would be hard to water and care for such a plant. These look good in many areas of the house, though you should not use them everywhere.

Not all artificial plants look that good, and that is why it is a good idea to shop around when you buy some, and it is also a good idea to spend more. The better looking ones are going to cost you more, but what you are paying for is the quality more so than the size of the plant. Be sure to inspect each part of any artificial plants you want to buy. Some look really good for the most part, but might have a fatal flaw that ruins the overall look of the plant.
